M：Well，believe it or not，I had an accident in the car this morning．Someone drove into the back of my car．
W：No! How did it happen?
M：1 was just turning into my drive when another car came round the er and drove into the back of mine．
W：Didn’t you see him?
M：No，I didn’t．I looked in my driving mirror and there was no one ing．Not only that，I also looked in the big mirror on the other side of the road．
W：So he must have been ing very fast if you didn’t see him．
M：That’s right．And he t straight into me．
W：Hi，Fred．Where have you been?
M：I've been to the library and borrowed some English books．What’s wrong?
W：I thought you’d been to the post office．Did you notice the money I left on the desk?
M：Yes，$10 altogether．But I didn’t know what it was for．
W：Didn’t you see the note I left you with the money?
M：Note? What note? I didn’t see any note．
W：Really? That’s very strange．I left the money with a note saying 1 wanted you to go to the post office and get some envelopes and stamps for me．I also put the ink bottle on them in case they might not draw your attention．
M：I see now．Why can’t you go and get them yourself7．The post office is only about 30 minutes’ walk from here．We often walk there after supper．
W：Of course I know how far it is from sch001．I can’t go there myself because I’m very busy doing some chemistry experiments in the lab．And what’s more，I have to prepare for my English exam．You know I failed the last one．If I can’t pass this time，a hard time will be waiting for me．
M：My name is Rick White．Rick is short for Richard，as I hope you know．1 was born in 1987 in、Canada, where my father was working as a doctor．It Was a small town，called Rock View, near Calgary in Alberta．After twelve years，I think，my father moved to the United States for a couple of years，before finally ing across to England．
I'm now studying for some quite important exams．They are called A levels，and I shall be
taking four different subjects，including information technology．If I do well enough，1 will
continue with my education at university, where 1 would like to study puter science．I have already taken and passed eight different subjects at a lower level，called GCSE．In England people normally take these exams at about the age of fifteen or sixteen．
I'm really interested in puter games．I play a lot of tennis，though the nearest court is a
long way from here，and I like traveling．I have a Canadian passport，and we travel back to visit family in Canada quite often．Next year, when I have taken my A levels and before going to university,1 want to spend some time working with puters．
